VC Spiritline had been hoping to cheer at the state championship game all season long and were thrilled that the time had finally come. They had worked very hard in the weeks prior to come up with fun ways to show off their talent and get the audience involved for the 2025 State Tournament. The girls planned and practiced new stunt sequences and dances to show off their professionalism for the biggest game of the season.
Spiritline cheered a total of 12 boys basketball games this season, including the memorable AIA Copper State Playoff games on February 12, 14, 22
nd and March 1
st. The Junior Varsity team cheered for a total of 8 girls basketball games this season. Both teams learned and performed a new halftime routine almost every week. Our ladies worked extremely hard entertaining and working the crowd during the 2024 – 2025 basketball season.
Valley's basketball team had made cheering for them such a delight, making it easy for the cheerleaders to be hyped and ready for their games. This season our Lady Trojans had the privilege of cheering in front of thousands of fans. They loved being able to go out on the court during timeouts and hype up the crowd, which was very fun for them as they also got to throw T-shirts out to the fans. There could not have been a better outcome and end to the season than our Spiritline members getting to cheer on the Trojans to a 4-peat State Championship Title!
Trojan basketball had a great season this year, and they were ready to put it all on the line for their 4
th state title. In fact, senior
Libby Juist is the only cheerleader to have been able to cheer at all four state titles. As for our new cheerleaders this season, when asked how they felt about cheering at our boys' State Championship game
Allison Chance (10) and
Zoey Anderson (10) said "We're excited to cheer on the basketball guys in front of a lot of people and be a part of the team as they hopefully get another state championship. We haven't gotten to experience a state game, and we think it'll be a really hype, fun team bonding experience."
The girls and their coaches are especially proud of this cheer season and the things they overcame during it. From competing in state for the first time in years to supporting our basketball boys all the way to State, it's safe to say Valley Christian went out with a bang. As well, the head coach of the last four years,
Lisa Summers, has decided that her time as a Valley Christian High School cheer coach has come to an end, so this was her final game with the Trojans.
She said a few words, "I am so proud of this year's team. I knew from the beginning of the year, at our retreat back in August, that this was going to be a very special group. Watching them worship at our retreat and minister to each other and pray over each other was something I will never forget. They are such kindhearted and caring young ladies with such a heart for Jesus. I am really going to miss this team and the eight seniors that will be sadly leaving us. This was my fifth year coaching at Valley and I know its time for me to pass the baton and the Lord is calling me to other opportunities. I will miss coaching so so much, it has truly been one of the biggest blessings of my life. This years seniors exemplified such outstanding leadership skills, I am so proud of them in every way and I know the future is so bright for all eight of them!"
Overall, we are so proud of our eight seniors,
Reese Robinson,
Peyton Shoffner,
Libby Juist,
Addi Ballantyne,
Emma Malmin,
Eva Turner,
Siena Thompson, and
Josie Santini for the way they lead this season. This group of girls provided a great example to the underclassman of how to be a Christ-like leader and use their talents for God's glory. According to Coach
Mikayla Marshall, who is stepping in next year to be the Head Coach, "I am so proud of how the girls have come together to transform Valley Christian's Spiritline. Coming back into competition after years of being a sideline cheer team is not easy. Our girls have worked hard to increase their skill sets, bond as a team, and crush it on the competition floor. The 24-25 Spiritline team has paved the way for future teams to continue their legacy, and I am excited to see where that leads!"
We look forward to watching the seniors and coach Lisa take the next step in their lives and see all the new faces to come! Go Trojans!
