Athletics Core Values

  • Teamwork
  • Respect
  • Opportunities
  • Joy
  • Association
  • No Fear
  • Sportsmanship
Teamwork
Teamwork is the visible manifestation of compassion, shared vision, encouragement, and other unseen traits. God calls on us to work together through the trials of this world.
Trojans will learn to work together to inspire each other and create something greater together than can be accomplished alone.

Respect
Respect should be shown in everyday conduct and will allow for a consistent testimony from VCS athletes that glorifies God and is a witness to those we are in contact with.
Trojans are committed to recognizing each other's strengths and differences. Our interactions will reflect our deep appreciation for God creating us as unique individuals. Trojans are committed to treating everyone with dignity, kindness, and love.

Opportunities
Seeing opportunities instead of obstacles is a mindset that God has given us much, to have faith, and to believe in His promises to mold us into the person or team He desires us to be.
Trojans will learn to see opportunities in what God puts in front of them. Trojans believe that God has given them the tools to accomplish what He desires for them in their lives.

Joy
Joy is the ability to see Christ in all results and areas of life. Joy only comes when we have a relationship with Jesus Christ and have willingly accepted Christ as in control of their life.
Trojans will learn that showing their joy is a living testimony and witness for others to see Jesus Christ in their lives.

Association
Athletics are a unifying force and have the ability to bring the VC community together. The community rallies together to celebrate, to sing, to laugh, to hug, and it unifies us with common purpose.
Trojans will learn the benefits of growing community within the team members, family, and our constituency and how it unites Valley Christian, most importantly to serve Christ in all that we do.

No Fear
Learning to play without fear allows athletes to test and push boundaries and to reach new levels and goals. Learning to control fears helps us to strengthen our mental toughness.
Trojans will learn to approach all things in life knowing Christ is behind us and giving us the strength to accomplish the tasks in front of us.

Sportsmanship
Good sportsmanship builds teamwork, character, and teaches respect, honor, discipline, kindness, inclusion, resilience, perseverance, and more.
Trojans will learn that sportsmanship is an excellent witness to our teammates, friends, fans, and opponents and is one way we serve and worship our Lord through sport.
