Trojan Boys Volleyball starts regular season 3-1

4/7/2025 3:27:00 PM

Last year the Valley Christian Boys Volleyball team finished their 2024 season with an overall record of 10-17. The Trojans sadly lost in the first round of the playoffs to Odyssey Institute; but this year the team is ready to make a run this year in the playoffs. With a core of returning seniors like Kaden Haase, Jose Amancio Ramos, Will Groen, Micah Morton, and Zeek Coyle, Travis Christy, and Logan Carpenter as well as solid juniors in Lincoln Powell and Austin Moskop, this team is looking to start where they left off last year and make strides as a program.

This is only the 3rd year for Valley Christian to have a boys volleyball program and the team is showing out so far this season. This is Coach Bob Davies' 3rd year coaching the boys volleyball team and joining him this year are two student coaches from the Varsity girls volleyball team, seniors Ellie Stuber and Madison Brown-McAlpine.

Senior Kaden Haase shared his thoughts on the season, "I'm looking forward to this season and can't wait to see how this team continues to work together and persevere in our upcoming games."

The Trojans have had a pretty good start so far, defeating North Valley Christian on March 18th with a 3-0 win. Later that week they took on Scottsdale Christian on March 21st and won 3-0. Unfortunately the team lost on March 24th to Seton Catholic, but they prepared and were ready to bounce back on March 31st against Horizon Honors, resulting in an amazing 3-0 win. Junior Austin Moskop had a stellar game offensively, with 6 kills and hitting .750 for the match. He reflected, "The game against Horizon Honors tested the team's overall compatibility, and everyone managed to overcome any and all challenges we faced together as a team."

There have been quite a few injuries so far this season, resulting in players playing new positions. Thankfully the team has been flexible and are working through this setback. The team is hoping to get healthy for this second half of the season.
