Rolling through April, Trojan boys volleyball went against Scottsdale Christian Academy battling through four sets but ultimately falling 3-1. Even from such a loss there were moments where the team showed strong effort and the ability to compete with anybody in their region. The boys were just missing that final push to get it done.
They responded immediately with a clean dominant performance against ALA Anthem South, earning a 3-0 sweep. Everything seemed to click in that match from controlled serves and consistent offensive pressure, giving them one of their most complete wins of the season.
On the road at Gilbert Christian, Valley fell short losing in 3 sets and facing a tough loss for region play. It was a challenging game where maintaining momentum proved difficult, but it also served as a learning experience against high-level competition that energy and effort means everything.
That experience showed in their next match-up at ALA Ironwood. After dropping a set, they regrouped and took control, securing a 3-1 win. The ability to adjust mid-match and stay composed was a key takeaway from that performance.
Facing Benjamin Franklin, the team once again found themselves in a tough match-up falling in straight sets. While the result didn't go their way, the sets consistently went to 20 and the Trojans never let themselves be out of the fight and while the result wasn't a win it was proof of how far they have come.
But, one of the most exciting games we have seen yet came against Gilbert Classical Academy for Valley's Senior Night. In a high energy 5 set battle the Trojans showed resilience and mental toughness, fighting through ups and downs before eventually closing it out 3-2. It was a match that highlighted their ability to stay locked in under pressure and be one of the best in the region.
They carried that energy into their next game at St. John Paul II Catholic where they delivered another strong performance with a 3-0 sweep. From start to finish they controlled the pace and closed out the stretch on a confident note.
As the season comes to end there are so many players who have grown substantially and so many who have been reliable. A few players who made these wins possible was Tommy Linquist (26') who has 488 assists on the season and counting. Another great player is Austin Moskop (26') who leads our team in Kills with 172 and also in Digs with 134. He has played a vital role in the Trojans success and will continue to be the glue that keeps this team together as they head into playoffs.
Lets go Trojans!
