After a dominant kickoff to the season on Tuesday against Highland Prep West, the Trojans showed up and shut out Leading Edge Academy 41-0 on Thursday. The Trojans got out early, dominating the first half and maintaining their momentum in the second.
In the first half of the game, the team had 3 touchdowns while still preventing the Spartans from entering the red zone. As a result of their vigor on both ends, they walked out of the half leading 27-0. Offensively, quarterback Abi Trillo (10) and wide receiver Alana Cross (11) made an authoritative duo, connecting for 3 touchdowns throughout the game. Rylan Ernst (12) also had a touchdown.
On the defensive end, key players included Charis Barrett (12) with 4 sacks and Angie Snape (12) with the first pick 6 of the season, as well as Makenna Bizzack with 4 interceptions. In the second half, they again prevented any offensive success, squashing their opponent with another two touchdowns in the second half to close out their performance.
The Trojans defended their home field, sending the Spartans home in defeat. Looking ahead, the team will travel to Arete Prep on September 25 at 7 PM. Senior Charis Barrett stated "They are our rivals (kind of), since we lost 3-0 last year", so they are returning ready to claim victory.
