Following a tough loss to Ben Franklin, the Trojans Flag Football team locked back in, shutting out both Horizon Honors and Seton Catholic.
In the Horizon Honors Game, the Trojans kicked the game off strong, shutting down their opponent early and not letting up. By the end of the game, they had shut the Eagles out, 35-0. On the offensive end, Abigail Trillo threw with 62% success for 4 touchdowns and 287 yards, Alana Cross received for 106 yards and 3 touchdowns, and Averi White had the first rushing touchdown of the season. Defensively, Kahiwa Kaahanui led the team with 7 tackles, closely followed by Kenzie Hackett with 5 tackles; Charis Barrett also kept the quarterback scrambling with 3 sacks.
Two days later against Seton Catholic, they conquered again for their 8th shutout victory of the season. From start to finish, the defense relentlessly pursued every opportunity, and according to Angie Snape, "We worked and played hard. Our defense really fought for us." Sydney Paschich had 4 tackles, Rylan Ernst had 2 interceptions followed by Kahiwa Kaahanui with 1, and Charis Barrett had 2 sacks. Their defensive grit gave them plenty of offensive opportunities, with Abigail Trillo throwing 65% accuracy for 3 touchdowns, Alana Cross receiving for 52 yards and 2 touchdowns, and Averi White carrying for 31 yards.
As the regular season closes, the team will move on to playoffs, battling River Valley at 6 PM at home on Wednesday. Overall, their strong defense will continue crushing opponents, but in highly competitive late-round playoff matches, their offense against aggressive defenses will "need to tighten a few screws" but are overall ready to compete according to Coach Sterling.
