Trojan Baseball continued their dominance in the month of March, picking up 7 wins in the month of March between region games and tournament play.

March 17th - Globe
A bloodbath hitting performance by the Valley Christian Trojans propelled them to victory on Monday, March 17th. The Trojan boys tallied 13 runs in the game on 11 hits and 8 walks. A sophomore, Ty Paschich, threw an immaculate inning in the second, striking out the side on nine pitches. The outstanding performance gave the Trojan boys lots of confidence heading into one of biggest games of the year against the Yuma Catholic Shamrocks.

March 19th - Yuma Catholic
On Wednesday night, high school baseball saw a rematch of last year's state championship game between the Valley Christian Trojans and the Yuma Catholic Shamrocks. It was a dogfight through all 7 innings with Yuma's ace on the mound for 5. Unfortunately, it was not his night as he took the loss after giving up 2 runs. Junior Jaxen Maxey showed great resilience on the mound following a leadoff home run to left-center field. He slated 3 hits, 1 run, and 6 strikeouts over 5 innings of work. Senior Andrew Van Egdom and junior Cameron Bergloff drove in the only two runs of the game proving it would be enough to send the Shamrocks home with the loss. The first matchup between the two lived up to the hype of being the best two teams in 3A.

March 21st-27th - Coach Bob National Invitational
Trojan baseball participated in the Coach Bob National Invitational tournament, which ranged with a wide variety of competition from all over the country. The Trojans started the tournament off with a tough loss to Highlands Ranch from Colorado. Despite the loss the Trojans bounced right back with three great consecutive wins over great out of state teams. The Trojans grinded all the way to the championship where they fell short 1-2 against Libertyville from Illinois. The Trojans fought hard and competed all week long and grew as a team overall. The boys look to pursue a stream of region games in hopes of obtaining their main goal of back-to-back state championships.

March 31st - Seton Catholic Prep
A dominant pitching performance for Junior Cameron Bergloff catapulted the Trojans to their 13th win of the season over the Seton Catholic Sentinals. He pitched a complete game shutout with 12 strikeouts on 97 pitches. Senior Berkeley Kaiser caught the barrel of a fastball and sent it into the trees in left-center field. Sophomore Derek Arold had a nice two strike, two out hit for an RBI single to cap the scoring for the Trojans. A truly masterful performance from Bergloff gave the offense a chance to put up some runs and secure the victory against the Sentinels. The first of 2 region matchups against Seton Catholic was very promising for the Trojans and gave them confidence as they head into the remaining part of their season.

Make sure to continue following the Trojans in the rest of their regular season games. The team is looking to finish strong on their quest for another state title!
