Valley Christian Baseball settling into the season

3/27/2026 9:10:00 AM

The Trojan boys started off the month of March with a very dominate win over Globe 24-0. A huge part of the team's success was because of junior, Ryan Sanchez, who went 4 for 5 while also tallying up 6 RBIs along the way. With this statement win the boys headed off to Houston for the three game stretch over a week.

The boys arrived in Houston and started off the action against Houston Christian, and though they fought hard, they fell 3-4 in a tough loss.

Despite the loss, Jaxen Maxey had a great day at the plate going 2 for 3 and racking up an RBI for the boys. When Maxey was asked about the teams outlook on the game, he mentioned that "It wasn't the outcome we wanted but I thought we dealt with adversity to the best of our ability."

They looked to face off against a tougher team in Lutheran South. The boys grinded all through the game on the defensive side of the ball with great pitching performances by Ty Paschich, Derek Arold, and Ryan Sanchez but at the end of the day, again, the boys fell 4-5.

The Trojans knew the competition would be good, and they showed up everyday with a positive attitude. They ended the week playing Saint Thomas, still with a good performance. Cam Bergloff gave the boys a shot, pitching for 4 innings and striking out 7 along the way, another noticeable player was Brock Jackson hitting a no-doubt bomb to put the Trojans on the board, but unfortunately they still fell 4-5 in a thriller.

Coming back to Arizona, the Trojans came with a vengeance and played and beat Grisham 16-0 in a statement win. Cam Bergloff had a great day at the plate, tallying up 3 hits and 7 RBIs for the Trojans. When asked about his approach while hitting he said that, "I stay calm and don't try and do too much."

The boys battled and don't show signs of stopping, their grit and dog mentality will carry them right to where they are trying to go which is a third consecutive state title.
