The Trojan baseball team has been rolling through the season and are currently dominating every 3A team they have faced. They are looking strong with no signs of stopping anytime soon.
The boys strolled into Florence on April 2nd and dominated 13-2. Ryan Sanchez shined in this game going 3-5 at the plate also collecting 2 RBIs to go along with the great night.
After a huge performance against a region opponent, the boys hit the road again and went to face off against Thatcher. After a three-hour bus ride the Trojans fought out a competitive win, this time it was the pitching that got it done for the Trojans allowing 0 runs through all 7 innings. The boys edged out the win 6-0 in a grinded out game.
The Trojans looked to face off against Valley Christian (CA), in a test to see who wore Valley Christian on their chest better. Despite the Trojans being down 1-3 for a large portion of the game they came back in a thriller. Nate Danziesen being the standout player this time going 2-3 and knocking in the game winning run to put the Trojans up 4-3 in the bottom of the 7th. When he was asked about the moment he mentioned that "it was one of the best feelings in my high school career".
The boys then took on Coolidge and won 18-0, racking up an impressive 13 hits and 15RBIs. On the defensive end, the pitcher, Devin Morganfield, was on fire and threw a no-hitter racking up 10 strikeouts along the way.
The Trojans then went into Seton Catholic territory and came out with a bang. The boys put up 12 runs in the first inning leaving no hope for the Sentinels. The team had lots of patience at the plate and collected 11 walks taking what the pitcher gave them. The Trojans walked out with their heads held high with a statement 14-1 win.
The team faced off against Coolidge again, gaining another great region win 14-0. Will Waggoner is the one who propelled the Trojans in this one going 3-3 with 2 monster home runs. When asked about his bombs, Waggoner said "I didn't expect to hit 2 home runs, I just let the game come to me nice and easy."
The Trojans are looking like the best team in all of 3a and it seems to be like no one can stop them on their quest for a 3-peat.
