The Valley Christian Trojans have prepared for the State tournament, which started May 6th at 6:00 pm. They have prepared for a state title all year long. Since the first practice back in January, the main message has been to go back-to-back. In a win or go home format, anything can happen, records are thrown out the window and the only goal is to win each game. The Trojans will go into the playoffs as the #1 seed in the conference as a reward for their undefeated, 15-0 performance in 3A this season.

The Trojans opened their 2025 playoff campaign against the Payson Longhorns in the first round at home. The Longhorns earned the 16 seed in the playoffs with their win against Florence last Wednesday, April 30th. Payson was 8-10 in the conference this year and finished the year ranked 21st in 3A. The Trojans bested the Longhorns with a score of 13-0, ending their season in the first round.

Come out and support the Trojans who are slotted to host the second game of the playoffs against River Valley. The game will be on Saturday, 5/10 at 2pm, at home. River Valley was 10-4 this year in the conference and ranked 9th in 3A. It should be a tough test for the Trojans as they look to continue their run in the playoffs and find themselves in a 3-game semifinal matchup next week.

Looking ahead to the rest of the playoffs, the semi-final 3-game series will be held on Tuesday May 13th, Thursday May 15th, and if necessary Saturday May 17th. Should the Trojans win this Saturday, they will either face Seton Catholic or Gilbert Christian for the right to play in the title game. Seton finished with a 12-5 record and 5th in the conference. Gilbert finished with a 14-3 record and 4th in the conference. Both teams will be a tough test considering both of them lost to the Trojans throughout the year.

Finally, the state title game will be held at Tempe Diablo Stadium on Monday, May 19th. The favorite opponent is the Yuma Catholic Shamrocks, a rematch of last years title game. They were 14-2 on the year with both losses coming from the Trojans. The other possible opponents are Pusch Ridge, Snowflake, or Kingman.
