The Valley Christian Baseball team entered the playoffs as the number 1 seed in the 3A conference. They were looking to stay hot in the playoffs and make a deep playoff run. The first-round win was against the 16 seed Payson Longhorns followed by a quarterfinal win against the River Valley Dust Devils.
On Tuesday, May 6
th, the Payson Longhorns traveled down to Chandler to play Valley Christian. Cam Bergloff ('26) was on the hill for the Trojans and he threw 3 strong innings, striking out 6 batters.
Devin Morganfield ('26) pitched in relief and finished off the last 2 innings well, allowing no runs and striking out 2. At the plate, The Trojans scored 4 right out the gate in the first and scored every inning winning by a final score of 13-0. Senior
Caleb Danzeisen had 2 home runs on Tuesday and Senior
Berkeley Kaiser had a good night, adding a hit and 3 RBIs. These two combined for 7 RBI's on the night.
The quarterfinal game was played on Saturday, May 10
th, as River Valley had to travel 4 hours to come play the Trojans. Junior
Jaxen Maxey started on the mound and pitched well, only allowing 1 run through 4 innings. The Trojan offense exploded in the 4
th, adding 5 runs, making it a 7-1 game. River Valley had a big answer in the top of the 5
th, scoring 8 runs in one inning, giving them the lead 9-7. The Trojans did not panic as they rallied back the rest of the game and won the game 16-9. It was a team effort the whole time as everyone in the lineup was battling. When Senior
Kyle Grier was asked about the game he said, "It was good to see us get tested and not panic. We knew if we stayed calm we would have a good chance to respond and come back. I am excited for the semis."
The Trojans play game one of the best of the 3 series starting Tuesday, May 13
th at Tempe Diablo Stadium at 6:30 P.M.
