Baseball Nearing the End of the Regular Season with Games Against ALA Ironwood, Yuma Catholic, and Benjamin Franklin

4/29/2024 7:05:00 PM

The Valley Christian baseball team is reaching the end of their season with just a few games left. They recently played ALA-Ironwood, Yuma Catholic and Benjamin Franklin to head into their final week of regular season play.

The Trojans started out strong against ALA-Ironwood, winning 13-3. There were some great at bats that led to another victory. The Trojans were off to a strong start by scoring 6 runs in the first inning. Sophomore Brock Jackson hit a home run which helped raise the energy for the team. Overall, it was a great game and the team played well.

Coming off that dominant win, the Trojans fell flat against Yuma Catholic. They had to drive all the way to Yuma for this game and did not play their best once they arrived. Unfortunately this game did not go in favor of the Trojans and they lost 4-7, their first and only loss of the regular season. Yuma had some quality at bats that helped them win. Our bats were not the best in that game which led to the Trojans coming up short. Senior Jimmy Twombly inputted, "Yuma came ready to play and played better than us. Despite the loss we plan to finish the season strong and not let this game get to us."

However, the Trojans would not let this loss define their season. The next game was against Benjamin Franklin, and they won in dominating fashion, 13-3. Junior Carson Grier had a great day at the plate going 3-4 and getting three singles. Junior Berkeley Kaiser also brought energy to the team by having a wonderful day at the plate. Junior Caleb Danzeisen added, "Our team showed great composure and played with class."

The Trojans are going into the finale of their regular season with only two games left. They play an away game at Gilbert Christian on April 18 at 6:30PM. Then after that on Monday April 22nd is Senior Night. They will have a home game against Coolidge and honor our seniors. Make sure to go out and support your Trojans!
