Trojans Come Out Strong against Golden Hawks on Senior Night

11/8/2024 9:39:00 AM

On October 22nd, the Valley Christian girls flag football team celebrated a dominant win against the Desert Sunrise Golden Hawks. The Trojans' three seniors, Abigail Stipp, Morgen Hackett, and Ariana Maurer aided the team in the dominant 35-6 victory while being celebrated by their loving teammates and family. It was the perfect senior night.

Before the game the Trojans had a season record of 2-5 and were coming off a 3-game losing streak. They were hungry for a victory that would hopefully propel them into the playoffs as the month of November and the end of the season approached.

During the first half of the game the Trojans scored two touchdowns, scored by Sophomore Alana Cross and Junior Rylee Randleman. Freshman Kenzie Hackett highlighted a strong defense by achieving the team's first safety by pulling the opposing quarterback's flag in the end-zone. Sophomore kicker Ryann Nelson was successful on a 20-yard field goal. The score at halftime was 18-6, as the Golden Hawks scored a single touchdown against the Trojans on a pick-six.

After halftime, the Trojans continued to control the game, increasing their lead from 18-6 to 35-6. They scored two more touchdowns, one by Freshman quarterback Abi Trillo. Additionally, Nelson successfully kicked a second field goal for the Trojans.

During the entirety of the game, the Trojan defense obtained four sacks and forced six incompletions as well as two interceptions, ultimately providing the defensive strength they've been working on all season. This game was also a record high for the Trojan offense, as they scored the most points in one game during this inaugural season and showed that their practice had been paying off.

After such a glorious victory, the Lady Trojans were ready for whatever else their season had in store for them as their last few games were quickly approaching. This third win of the was a result of an impressive performance on both sides of the ball, seeing the Trojans scoring four touchdowns and tallying an impressive 35 points.
