After a long, hard game on Tuesday, the Trojans were defeated by the Arete Prep Chargers by a narrow 3 points. The game on October 15th was one of the hardest battles yet. Both teams had incredibly strong defense, causing almost no points to be scored. The score was 0 – 0, and in the 4th quarter, the Trojans were narrowly defeated when the Chargers scored a field goal.  

The game started with the Trojans on defense, and they easily defended the opposing offensive lineup. For nearly an hour the ball changed hands until both teams were exhausted. After a time out, the Chargers made a hard push and were able to score a field goal on our beloved Trojan flag football team. The Trojans locked in, but there was not enough time left for them to score, leaving them unable to turn the game around. In the end, the Trojans came out defeated against the Chargers, 0 – 3. However, as mentioned in previous articles, with this being their inaugural season, the flag football girls will undoubtedly learn from this game, and apply the lessons in the future, allowing them to grow and improve.  

A star of defense, Charis Barrett, had some thoughts about the game. She said, "The game against Arete Prep was one of the strongest games of the season, especially for the defensive lineup. We are proud of how well we defended against their offense, but by the end of the game, they were able to slip by our special teams."  

The flag football team, especially the special teams has been working especially hard on making sure that all bases are covered, to insure something like this will not happened again. In hindsight, this game could have been a win, but there were small mistakes that caused the Trojans to fall short. At the end of the day, the Trojans are working hard to learn and grow from this unfortunate loss. Make sure to show up and support the Trojans at their future games!
