In the last 10 days of Trojan Boys Volleyball (April 17-25), the team has played Combs, Madison Highland Prep, and Tempe Prep, and ended up winning two of the three games. The Trojans came off a win going into the Combs game on Monday, April 17th, and wanted another victory, but unfortunately did not get the win. In set one, Combs won 25-14, going up 1-0. The Trojans came back in set two, winning 25-17, and tied it up 1-1. Sets three and four went similar to the first two, with Combs winning set 3 25-16, and the Trojans coming back and winning set 4 25-21. This sent the two teams into the fifth set, where the game is played to 15, and you must win by 2. It was very even scoring between the two teams the entire set, but in the end, Combs pulled it off, winning 16-14. It was a close and disappointing loss for the Trojans. With Lincoln Womack gone for the game, Jacob Leppert stepped up and ended up as the Player of the Match, but the team could not find the win.
In their next game, on Thurdsay of that same week, the Trojans battled against Madison Highland Prep at home. The VC boys bounced back after the tough loss earlier in the week and dominated against the Heat, winning all 3 sets. The first two sets were a breeze, winning 25-10 and 25-11, but the last set gave them a little trouble. The Madison Highland Heat came back strong, knowing it was all on the line, and put a lot of pressure on the Trojans. The VC boys pulled it out, winning 29-27, and finishign with the 3-0 win. Senior Lincoln Womack once again missed the game, but sophomore Will Groen stepped up and was Player of the Match.
The following Tuesday, April 25th, the Trojans played against Tempe Prep. Once again, the Trojans won by a comfortable margin. The three sets ended, 25-13,25-7, and 25-21. The boys pretty much breezed through the game, and they were led by sophomore Branton Borst.
Only one more week of regular season play is left for the Trojan Boys Volleyball team. They are going to the playoffs soon, so be ready to cheer your Trojans on!
