On Good Friday, April 7th, the Trojans played against the Horizon Honors Eagles. The Trojans started off with an early lead, but unfortunately lost it later in the set. Senior Lincoln Womack was dealing with issues regarding his knee and had to sub out momentarily. The Trojans ended up falling behind, losing the first two sets, 16-25 and 15-25. However, in the 3rd set, the Trojans switched in Senior Luke Wegenke in for Junior Jacob Leppert as outside hitter. The Trojans didn't give up and played hard in the 3rd set. At the end, it was back and forth between the Eagles and the Trojans until the score broke 30 points! The final score of the 3rd set was 28-30, with the Trojans barely losing. Senior Dustin Henry led with 4 blocks and played so hard that he ended up injuring his hand but was able to make a speedy recovery.
Senior Libero and Captain, Isaac Liimatta, had some thoughts about the game, saying, "As a new team we play to get better every day, getting more reps, building each other up, and learning how to move on from our mistakes. I believe in every single one of us and our ability to come together as a team and win. We have shown that against skilled teams like Eastmark and Scottsdale Christian. Horizon is just another team that can make us better by showing us what we can do to compete at a higher level. I have high hopes for the next game, and everyone has been working hard and I think that if we play like we do when we're having fun it, it will be an amazing match."
The Trojans are set to play off against the Eagles again this Wednesday at home, so make sure to come out to Bradley Gym at 4:00 PM to support the Trojans as they look for a comeback!
