Baseball Brings Down the Hammer on Opponents

4/12/2023 10:44:00 AM

The Valley Christian Trojan baseball team continues to put the hammer down on their opponents. The week of March 27th the Trojans had four games and they started off strong against Florence on Monday. They would play Neah-Kah-Nie, Taft and Pusch Ridge later in the week.

The Junior Varsity team was able to get the edge over Florence and win 7-6 and brought the energy from the first game into the Varsity game later that afternoon. Varsity ended up winning 16-1 and mercy ruled the the Gophers. Dylan Suzuki, a junior, started off pitching for the first three innings and would give the Trojans a boost in energy. Then Carson Grier, a sophomore, came in to pitch and closed the game in the last two innings. The Trojans were great at the plate and got timely hits that contributed to the beat down.

The next team the Trojans faced on Wednesday, March 29th, was from Oregon and their name was Neah-Kah-Nie. That game was a blow out and the Trojans destroyed them with a score of 31-2. Thursday the 30th the Trojans faced Taft and continued to show their dominance in a 22-0 win. Those three games were a walk in the park for Trojan baseball, but they still had one more game to play on Saturday.

The Trojans started the month of April taking on Pusch Ridge Christian Academy. Going in, the Trojans knew this would be a tough game and the Lions would make us earn the win. Sophomore Carson Grier started at pitcher. By the fourth inning the boys were down 2-6 but were not out of the game yet. The Trojans had a rally going and were able to tie the game 6-6. Junior Dylan Suzuki came in during the fifth inning and went the rest of the game and shut Pusch Ridge down. Then in the bottom of the seventh, Carson Grier was the leadoff batter and got on first. From there he scored the winning run, making the final score 7-6 – a Valley Christian victory! It was a hard-fought game and the Trojans were able to come out on top and finish a great week of wins.

The Valley Christian Trojan baseball team has been playing great this season, and fans look on in anticipation since they still have the entire month of April to play. Make sure to come out and support your Trojans as they continue dominating on the field!
