Boys Volleyball Kicking Off First Ever Season

3/6/2023 3:03:00 PM

Valley Christian High School is extremely excited to launch its first ever boys volleyball team this year! This team will be led by head coach Bob Davies and assistant coaches Tyler Trathen and Keith Gilbert.

Valley Christian will be competing in the AIA 4A division and will play a total of 15 games in the regular season. They will be in the Central Region, which has a total of five teams including Horizon Honors, Madison Highland, Scottsdale Christian and Tempe Prep.  The seniors leading this team include Lincoln Womack, Luke Wegenke, Luke Morton, Isaac Liimatta, Dustin Henry and Jared Jentgen.

The Trojans will play their first ever game on Tuesday the 28th at Poston Butte High School. This will be an extremely exciting game for the program as the players and coaches compete in their first ever game for Valley Christian boys volleyball.

The Trojans will then have a break before they face their next opponent, as their next game is scheduled for the 21st of March at San Tan Charter. This gives the team three weeks of practice to improve their game and create more chemistry with each other before heading into the rest of their season.

The team will then be very busy as they will play multiple games a week, usually on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Some of the team's key players include captains Lincoln Womack and Isaac Liimatta, as well as Dustin Henry, junior Jacob Leppert, sophomore Kaden Haase and sophomore Jose Amancio-Ramos.

Womack said "It's exciting to be getting back into playing competitive volleyball. Our team has a lot raw talent and Coach Bob has done a great job at transforming that into volleyball skills. I am looking forward to a successful year and am excited to see how we grow as a team."

Sophomore Kaden Haase said, "Our players don't have a lot of past volleyball experience, but we do have good athletes. We hope to stand a good chance this season against other teams and grow as a team".

Come out and cheer on your Trojan boys volleyball team this season!
