Trojan Baseball Starts Season Strong Playing Against Tough Competition

3/27/2023 2:03:00 PM

Our Valley Christian baseball team has had a great start to the season with a current record of 9-3. They have been playing hard and showing people across the state who the Trojans are and what they're all about. Even over spring break, their grind has not stopped.

Over break the Trojans played in the Bob Everett Classic, hosted by Gilbert High School, and had five games against many schools from higher divisions. As a team we did not start out too hot, losing the first three games in a row. We first played Alhambra and lost 1-7, then played the Gilbert Tigers and after starting a rally in the last inning, ended up losing 4-7. We then went on to play Eastmark, but fell short 9-12. While starting with three losses was disappointing, the boys were not done and refused to give up. The next game was against Mesquite High School. The team was down 4-6 in the last inning but freshman Brock Jackson hit a walk off grand slam to give the Trojans the victory, 8-6. Then in the last game of tournament the Trojans played Skyline and ended up beating them 8-1. The Trojans did not give up after having a rocky start and they were able to finish the tournament strong.

Now that we are back from spring break, the team has showed no mercy to their opponents. On Monday the 20th we put a beat down on ALA - Anthem South, winning 17-1. Also, on Thursday the 23rd they played the La Junta Tigers and won 12-2.

Baseball is back in gear for the 2023 season. They have had an incredible start to their season and plan to keep up the pace. They have been training and practicing hard for this season and plan to give it all they've got. This year the school and its supporters also invested in lights for the baseball field, so we are looking forward to catching the Trojans playing a night game this season. Make sure to go and support your Valley Christian Trojans!
