Trojans Open Beach Season with Strong Start and Promising Growth

4/7/2026 9:04:00 AM

The Trojans beach volleyball team kicked off their season with energy, determination, and a clear sense of potential as they faced off against Agua Fria in their season opener. Dominating the match, the Trojans secured a 5-0 victory, with every pair contributing to the sweep. For a team with no seniors and many athletes new to the sport, the performance set an encouraging tone for the season ahead.

Junior captain Peyton Berry has embraced a leadership role this year, helping guide a young and developing team. Reflecting on the opening match, Berry shared, "The first game of our season was a great first game for us to figure things out. Despite being a new team and most of us new to the sport, everyone played really well with their partner, learning more about the game itself and how each other play." Berry emphasized the collective effort and strong team performance as the highlight.

The Trojans then faced a challenging stretch with back-to-back home matches. In their home opener against North Valley Christian, the team battled hard but ultimately fell short in a close 2-3 loss. They followed that with another tight contest against Mesquite, again losing 2-3. Despite the setbacks, the Trojans demonstrated resilience and competitiveness, proving they can keep pace with strong opponents.

Co-captain Grace Lottich, also a junior, has played a key role in maintaining team moral and unity. "Leading the beach team as a junior is amazing! The community is great, and our chemistry allows the entire team to lead by serving each other." The Trojans quickly bounced back in their next matchup against Veritas Prep, showcasing their growth and determination with another dominant 5-0 victory. The win reinforced the team's potential.

With a young roster, strong leadership from their junior captains, and evident improvement each game, the Trojans are shaping up to be a team to watch this season. Their combination of developing talent, teamwork, and resilience points toward an exciting future on the sand.
