Desert Vista Invitational
This was Valley Christians very first official track meet of the year, and our Trojans showed up and showed out. Even though some of them were out with injuries, our athletes were very excited to crush the competition. The meet was a great preview for the rest of the season. Leading into the first meet, the players were grateful for the good weather.
Senior, Mecca Brisbon shared that it was a time for returning athletes to "knock off the rust and get going. Some of the players had to work out their nerves, if they were new athletes to the sport. Some athletes were still becoming familiar with their events and it was a learning experience for both newbies and seasoned athletes."
Chandler Rotary Meet
The Chandler Rotary meet was the second official track meet for our athletes, and the Trojans did outstanding. Even though it was very hot and it is still the start of our season, that did not faze them. Caleb Goldmen placed 5th in the 300 hurdle out of the entire state, and Micah Newkirk beat two school records already for the mile. Some other team shout outs are Lauren Payne running the 400m and 800m, along with Alana Cross and Angie Snape for hard work and determination in their events (100m, 4x100m, and 4x4). Our Lady Trojans are fierce competition and have their eyes on the prize.
