Our Lady Trojans have been working very hard this season, and as the season is coming to an end, they have a very busy schedule. The girls played many fierce teams and battled in some heated rivalries.
On January 24th, the Trojans played against Valley's rival school: Gilbert Christian. Valley has had a long history of rivalry against this school, and our Trojans were very excited to play against them. The Trojans started off the game strong and went into it with a lot of confidence. Sophomore
Addison Krupnik was on fire, with a total of 31 buckets (9 three-pointers) and solid defense.
Ellie Phillips (26') was also a key player, with 22 points and 11 assists. Other key contributors were
Abby Grier (27') with 16 points and Kendal Goncharoff (27') with 4 steals. The final score 83-37, the Trojans crushing Gilbert. Kendal Rice (27') gave a shout out to
Ellie Phillips (26'),
Addison Krupnik (28') and
Abby Grier (27'), saying, "They were unstoppable and they were the reason we won."
Valley was challenged mentally in the game against Coolidge on January 27th. Coolidge is a very mentally tough and physical school, but our Trojans rose to the occasion and were ready to battle back. Junior Kendal Rice said, "Our coaches really pushed us to be mentally tough." The Trojans 100% delivered, winning 83-14. Senior
Ellie Phillips dropped 25 points, Jr.
Abby Grier had 15, and Jr.
Annie Jackson had 14.
Addison Krupnik and Kendal Rice were also major players, Addison (28') getting 8 rebounds and Kendal (27') with 10 steals. Our underclassmen (Sophomores
Evie Johnson and Gracie Phillips, and freshman Emmy Phillips) locked in on defense, getting blocks and steals all around.
The final game in this three-game series was against Seton Catholic on January 30th. Last time the Trojans played Seton, they won 57-49. Valley came into this game with confidence and excitement, and pre-game they all made a mental choice to give it their best. They definitely did give it their all, final score being 57-42. Stat leaders include Senior
Ellie Phillips (15 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists)
Abby Grier (21 points, 4 three-pointers, 4 steals) and
Addison Krupnik (13 points, 7 rebounds)
Addison Krupnik (28') says, "I'm proud of how we've come together as a team, how we build each other up, and how we encourage each other." It was an especially exciting day for
Abby Grier (27') who scored her 1000th career point!
Along with Abby's (27') 1000th career points the Trojans also have broken many records! During the Gilbert Christian game (January 24th) they beat the Valley Girls Basketball record for three-pointers made in a game. The previous record, set in the 2024-25 season, was 14 three-pointers in a game. On the 24th the Trojans blew by that record, dropping 20 three-point shots. Nine of those buckets belong to sophomore
Addison Krupnik, who lit up the boards all night long. The girls tied the all-time school record for girls and boys' basketball, which is also 20. Way to go Trojans!
The Trojans have wrapped up their regular season and are eagerly looking forward to post season!! Come and support the girls on Tuesday, February 10th for the first round of playoffs!
