The Trojan Track & Field regular season has come to an end. Both teams finished super strong and those going to state are working even harder now. The meet was full of personal bests and thrilling finishes, showcasing the hard work of our athletes. From sprints to distance to field events, the competition was fierce, leaving spectators on the edge of their seats until the final event.
Although this meet had a lot of big schools there, the scoring was based off of our division alone. Starting off with our boys team, these athletes demonstrated true resilience and determination:
- Colton Gauthier ('26) placed 2nd in the 100m.
- Justen Bradford ('27) and Calvin Gage ('25) PR'd in the 400m.
- Micah Newkirk ('26), Terrrence Snape ('27), and Micah Raber ('27) all PR'd in the 800m. Micah won 1st place and is less than a second away from breaking the school record.
- Cody Sigerud ('26), Luke Hodgson ('28), and Micah Heller ('27) all PR'd in the mile plus a 2nd place finish from Cody.
- Ethan Hodgson ('26) and Caleb Goldman placed 1st and 2nd in the 110m hurdles.
- Our 4x1 team, made up of Caleb Goldman, Ethan Hodgson, Colton Gauthier, and Calvin Gage ran a PR of 43.81 and placed 3rd.
- Our 4x4 team, made up of Ethan Hodgson, Caleb Goldman, Jonah Baxter, and Micah Newkirk ran a PR of 3:27.88 and placed 1st.
- Jackson Kuyoth ('26) threw a PR in Shot Put of 45-08.00 and placed 3rd.
- Jackson also threw a PR in Discus of 117-10.
- Ethan Gomez ('25) placed 1st in Javelin.
- Finnley Roth ('26) placed 2nd in Pole Vault.
The girls team had a great sense of community and support, creating a good atmosphere that they will carry with them to state. Here are some athletes that showed impressive results:
- Alana Cross ('27) PR'd in the 200m with a time of 27.90.
- Hannah Goldman ('26) PR'd in the 400m with a time of 1:05.62.
- Raegan Randleman ('27), Madison Lewis ('27), and Layla Heller ('25) all PR'd in the 800m.
- In the mile, the Trojans held the 3rd-6th places by Mara Mellberg ('27), Ellie Edwards ('26), Ellie Phillips ('26), and Raegan Randleman ('27).
- Bella Goldman ('26) placed 3rd in the 100m hurdles and 1st in the 300m hurdles with a PR of 46.60.
- Our 4x4 team, made up of Hannah Goldman ('26), Shayah Kubat ('26), Alana Cross ('27), and Angie Snape ('26) ran a PR of 4:18.46 and placed 4th.
- Iveya Ward ('25) placed 2nd in Shot Put with a PR of 30-11ft and placed 3rd in Discus.
- Taylor Miser ('25) threw a PR in Javelin of 98-05ft and placed 2nd. She also jumped a PR in Long Jump of 16-01.50.
- Zoey Anderson ('27), Libby Juist ('25), and Brooke Gillis ('26) all tied in Pole Vault with a jump of 9-08.
- Rylee Randleman ('26) jumped a PR in both Long and Triple Jump, and placed 1st in Triple.
- Ariana Maurer ('25) jumped a PR in Triple Jump of 33-05.50 and placed 2nd.
Overall, the day celebrated sportsmanship and athletic excellence, setting a high bar for the competitions to come. On May 9
th and 10
th, the Trojans will compete in their final meet at the AIA Division IV State Championships at Deer Valley High School. Our girls team is very excited, as they have a high chance of taking home the gold this year. Our boys are also pumped to give it their all, some for their final time.
