Unfortunately, the girls faced tough losses in their next two games, which proved to be more challenging. In an extremely close game on the road against Gilbert Christian on Saturday, January 25
th, the Trojans fought hard to stay in it the whole time but sadly lost with a gut-wrenching score of 44-42. The crowd was on the edge of their seats as it was neck and neck the whole game. Senior
Bella Ferrara stated, "Although we lost this game, it was definitely a good game and taught us to push through. These games will help us to get better and learn to fight through the losses."
After beating them earlier in the season on a buzzer beater, the girls faced off against Coolidge again at home on Tuesday, January 28
th. The girls gave it their all, but despite all their hard work and determination they lost with a score of 41-49. It was a hard-fought game that tested the team's endurance and spirit.
Although these two losses were tough, our Trojans demonstrated their teamwork and resilience in the face of adversity and will use their losses as fuel and encouragement to play harder as they battle for state!
In summary, our girls basketball team has proven that they are a force to be reckoned with. Their landslide of a victory against Florence was just one example of their capabilities, and their close games against Gilbert Christian and Coolidge showcases that they are a top team in the state. As the season progresses, the girls continue to improve and grow in their skills. Their season is far from over and the girls will continue to strive for success in everything that they do!
Make sure to come out and support them as they compete in the first ever small schools open division for state. The girls are going into the tournament ranked #13.
