The beach volleyball team is officially back after a long break. The Trojans started off their season on February 21st against Veritas Prep. The #5's, senior Avery Schmidt and junior Ellie Stuber, won 2-1 in their game. They lost a close set, but powered back and won the next two. At the 4's senior Morgan Bradford and sophomore Emma Smith shared similar success, winning their first and third set, losing their second set, but winning the game 2-1. Juniors Taylor Miser and Aubrey Miller at the 3's, as well as junior Madi Brown-McAlpine and sophomore Ellie Gregg at the 2's won the first two sets, taking the games in a clean sweep. Captains and #1 pair, senior Kaiya Haase and sophomore Claire Gilbert were able to continue the Trojans' domination of the match and win their game. They dropped the first set, but recovered well and won the next two. This was a tough battle as a team and the Trojans came out on top.
Veritas Results:
The Trojans continued their domination into the next three games. On February 26th they faced Coconino at home. They swept the Coconino Panthers in similar fashion, winning every game in two sets, with exception of the ones pair. Kaiya Haase and Claire Gilbert won the first set, narrowly losing the second set in a nailbiter, but coming back and dominating the third set. This left the Trojans 2-0 for the season.
Coconino Results:
The girls could not be stopped, they competed at home on February 27th against Chandler Prep on the second leg of back-to-back games. Pairs 5, 4, and 3 were all able to shutout their opponents. The 2's game was close, but Emma Smith and Eliana Gregg were able to come out on top, winning 3-1. Haydyn Gerard and Claire Gilbert fought hard, winning their first set, but unfortunately losing the next two in close games, the final score was 1-2 for the 1's. Overall the Trojans still secured a team victory, winning 4-1.
Chandler Prep Results:
The Trojans ended their first stint of home games with a record of 3-0. They will head to Mohave to compete before taking a long break for Spring Service Break.
