2/19/2024 12:44:00 PM

The Trojan girls basketball has had such an amazing season and is not ready for it to end without winning it all! On Wednesday, February 7th, the Trojans had their last regular season home game and also celebrated senior night. Valley athletics does a great job of showing their appreciation for our seniors.

The five seniors collectively shared that this year was amazing and it was so exciting to see our basketball team ending the regular season as one of the top teams in the state. Many of the seniors shared that these past four years of basketball created so many memories on and off the court with their teammates and that they will truly miss it next year.

The senior night game was against Florence High School, whose record going into the game was 8-9. Valley Christian started off strong with the Trojans taking the lead 19-6 in just the first quarter! Senior Malia Tonkinson started the game off strong with 4 rebounds in the first couple of minutes. The Trojans continued to lead, resulting in a halftime score of 34-13. Valley dominated in the third quarter and earned a dominant score of 56-25 heading into the fourth quarter. The Trojans did not allow Florence to score during the fourth quarter, ending in the final score of 61-25.

Senior Madison Zamora shared, "I enjoyed having this win at home. It was very rewarding and exciting to see since our team has been working hard for the past four years."

Assistant Coach Tracey Jackson commented, "this was a great game to have as the seniors' last regular season game. It gave them a positive feeling heading into playoffs and allowed for the seniors to have a nice win at home."

This win got the Trojans excited to head in the playoffs as the number four seed in 3A.

GO TROJANS!
