The Valley Christian Super Smash Bros team has started their season 4-1 in season play. The Varsity team consists of Mecca Brisbon (9), Wes Gentala (10), and Luke Morton (12). "This varsity roster is the best Valley Christian Super Smash Bros team we have ever had," shares head coach Jon Hunsaker. 

For those new to Esports, the Super Smash Bros competition format pits each team's three best players against one another in a best two out of three match duel. Each team gets to choose three characters that fit them best with their different skill sets in light of who they are going to play against. 

Coach Hunsaker shared, "our team is noticeably young. Our varsity roster is made up of a freshman, a sophomore, and a senior. Having Luke Morton as our captain is very good because not only is he experienced, but he is cool, calm, and collected under pressure. Luke also takes on a teaching role with our underclassmen who do not know as much. Luke Morton is truly a born leader." 

The Valley Christian Smash Bros team is looking good and is in contention for a playoff spot. Playoffs will start in April with the finals taking place at the end of April. Coach Hunsaker said, "we are looking good to make the playoffs, but we have a lot of room to improve. We will see what happens when April comes!"  

Coach Hunsaker is a great coach for these young men, not only with video games, but also in all aspects in life. Mr. Hunsaker's coaching motto is "the most important part about the team is how strong my kids' relationships with God and their teammates is. If we win a state championship and everyone on my team doesn't like each other, I won't be happy with myself because I did not do my job."
