Valley Wrestling is here to stay!

As the Wrestling season continues to move on, our Trojan wrestlers continue to show up and show out wrestling hard and bring fierce competition to every meet. Two of Valleys own seniors, Bella and Hannah Goldman (26'), have been showing off and dominating in regular play.

At the Ben Franklin girls only meet, Hannah reported, "I went 3-0 at this meet and even though it was difficult, one girl from East Mark was harder than the rest and coming from a 5A school she was a big challenge for me but I pulled it off and secured the win."
Her sister Bella, also has some words about the meet saying that for her, "I had an idea of how my opponents wrestle because for most I had wrestled them before, and I knew what had worked and what didn't."

Trojan wrestling then came home for a meet against Globe where Bella and Hannah both won their matches, and Senior captain JuanErnesto sat out due to injury but most notably cheered louder than anyone. After seeing how well they did I asked them, "How do you guys prepare for your matches, do you watch film or is there anything special that you do?" they said that, "It really helps to focus at the start of meets, to really focus in and watch your opponent's moves before your matches"

On January 16th and 17th, the Trojans wrestled at The Gavin Tylman Memorial Tournament throwing down and bringing the heat. This meet was a 32-person bracket meet which included Valleys very own Juan Ernesto Alvarez. He played in four matches where in two he won with a pin and in the other two won by decision.

When asked how he prepares after your matches to make sure he is ready for practice and that your body stays in healthy shape, he shared, "Recovery is very important! Getting into the Ice bath and consuming plenty of food and water is important to stay healthy and ready for the season."

Alvarez also participated in his very last home meet this Wednesday on January 21st where he won both his matches via pins. He battled his heart out to put on a show for his friends and family who came to celebrate him and his career at Valley. As JuanErnesto takes his next steps as a athlete, lets continue to cheer him on as he goes to Desert Ridge to compete in the Desert Edge Invitational on January 24th

After that the team travels to Payson, Arizona College Prep and Finally Northwest Christian to end the season before State. Please come to support out seniors and athletes as they finish this season strong and head to compete in state. Go Trojans!
