On Thursday September 11th the Trojans took on Snowflake. Valley Christian won against Snowflake with a score of 3-0. Valley Christian was on fire and came out strong. Snowflake and Valley were very evenly matched opponents. They are known for having a significant rivalry. In 2023 they played each other for the 3A state championship title. Snowflake won this game, but Valley was determined to not let them win again. Games between the Lobos and the Trojans have been highly anticipated and very competitive. Both of these teams have strong programs and are in the same conference, so their matches are one you won't want to miss.
Set 1 Valley Christian won 26-24. This was a close set filled with intensity. Ellie Gregg had an amazing play in set 1. The Lobos had an attempted kill which was stopped by Ellie Gregg who had an impressive pancake. The crowd was cheering and on their feet. The game continues rushing with energy. Everyone was closely watching each play. Going back and forth each team putting up some good rallies, until it was match point. The Trojans secure the match point and win set 1.
Now time for set 2 which Valley Christin won 27-25. The Trojans coming off a win were ready to keep the streak alive. The Lobos were ready to put up a fight and try to come back. This set was another close set. The Trojans and Lobos were going back and forth. With kills, aces, serves, and sets all in play everyone was playing with passion. This was a head to head set looking like it would be a battle for both teams. Despite some close moments where it could have been anyone's game the Trojans take set 2.
Only needing to win one more set Valley was ready. They were feeling very confident and were showing impressive teamwork. The energy on the court and in the stands was incredible. Valley showed how well they could work together. The Trojans were ready to take the whole match. Keeping their head in the game the Trojans win set 3 25-17. Match over the Trojans win!
Valley has been on a roll lately and their stats are proof. Junior Sydney Simon led the team with a impressive 104 kills. The Trojans accumulated 50 blocks which wouldn't have been done without Junior Sadie Wahlin. Valley had an amazing amount of serving aces with Peyton Berry recording 14. Ansley Venkatesh the Trojans starting setter assisted the team to a victory with 293 sets. The only Senior from Valley made sure the ball hit the ground very rarely with 175 digs. Sophomore Elyse Wolf took every chance she was given and acquired 159 receptions.
The Trojans take on Monument Valley at home on September 13th. So far they are showing that they are determined to win another state championship and defend their title. There are still many games left of the season but Valley is ready
