Valley Christian volleyball finished their regular season with two big wins this week, sweeping both Apache Junction and Florence in straight sets. The Trojans have now won eight matches in a row and look ready for playoffs.
On Monday, Oct. 27th, Valley dominated Apache Junction 3-0, with set scores of 25-8, 25-7, 25-6.
Ansley Venkatesh ('27) led the way with 28 assists and eight aces, keeping the Prospectors off balance all match. The Trojans improved each set, showing total control from start to finish.
Two days later, on Wednesday, Oct. 29th, the Trojans kept the momentum going, beating Florence 3-0 (25-17, 25-16, 25-20). Freshman
Kaydence Hirsch had a breakout game with 12 digs and three aces, setting a new season-high for herself.
Peyton Berry ('27) added her first assist of year to help the Trojans close out the win.
"In our game against Apache Junction, I thought we did a great job at keeping our skill and intensity the same no matter the opponent," said Junior
Sydney Simon.
"We're all focused on one goal heading into playoffs, and keeping God at the center is a big part of that." Senior
Ellie Gregg also reflected on her last regular season game. "It's crazy to think that Wednesday was my last in-season game," Gregg said. "It feels like not long ago I was a freshman playing my first game in America. I'm going to miss Valley volleyball so much, but now I'm ready to go win another state championship.
The Trojans looked sharp in both matches, serving tough and keeping long rallies alive. Venkatesh continues to be a key leader running the offense, and the defense – led by Hirsch and Gregg – has been solid all around. Valley stayed consistent and played as a team, showing the same energy every night.
With these two wins, Valley Christian is now 30-10 and heading into playoffs on an eight-game win streak. The Trojans will look to carry that momentum as they begin their run towards another state title.
