The Valley Christian Trojans Softball seniors guide their team to victory

5/4/2025 1:04:00 PM

Valley Christian played another outstanding game against the Apache Junction Prospectors, finishing with a dominating score of 25-0. This game held significant meaning as it highlighted the senior class of 2025, marking one of the last games to wrap up the regular season. Seniors Taya Clausen, Libby Juist, and Addi Ballantyne were all in the starting lineup, each playing an amazing game to lead the Trojans to victory. Starting on the mound was Taya, who pitched a complete game with a total of 5 innings. Strengthening the defense in center field was Libby and in right field was Addi.

Taya Clausen pitched lights out with a perfect game, one of the rarest feats in softball. She did not allow for a single run, hit, or walk, meaning no batter reached the base throughout the game. The Prospectors had a collective earned run average of 0.00 and an on base percentage of .000. Throughout the game Taya collected a total of 11 strikeouts, and overall pitched an amazing game. This game highlighted Taya's dominance on the field as well as her control on the mound. After the game, Taya shared her experience in the game stating "It felt amazing to go out there and just have fun doing what I love with my teammates. We've worked so hard this season, and to have a game like this, especially as a senior, means everything to me."

In the lineup batting first was Libby Juist, who proved her dominance not only on the defensive side, but also in the hitting lineup. Libby had a hitting average of 1.00 and got on base all four of her at bats. Batting second was Addi Ballantyne, who also contributed to the win. She also batted 1.00 with 1 single and 3 walks. Hitting strong in the three hole was Taya Clausen. Taya batted an over all of .500 and was 1 for 2 with a walk.

This game allowed the team to reflect on the regular season as it comes to an end, and the Trojans now begin shift focus on the playoffs. The Valley Christian softball team could not have asked for better senior leaders that guide the Trojans to victory. As the Valley Christian softball team makes their way through playoffs, these seniors will continue to pave the way for the Trojan softball team.
