Valley's very own senior,
Ailis Tribolet, was and still is one of the best golfers in Arizona. She has plenty of experience winning, as shown by her individual and team state titles. She could have had another one this year, however, she gave up that chance in pursuit of a bigger goal: the U.S. Women's Amateur Four Ball tournament. In this tournament, there are 375 teams consisting of 750 total players. Ailis is playing with partner Anya Mathur, a talented golfer from Scottsdale Preparatory Academy.
Being the exceptional golfer that she is, she won in the Stroke Play, Round of 32 (2 and 1), and advanced to the round of 16, where she and her partner came out victorious (5 and 4). Unfortunately, Ailis and her partner narrowly lost in the quarterfinals to a team made up of Athena Singh and Keira Yun, who were ultimately the tournament champions. With Ailis' remarkable degree of skill, it is surprising that another team was able to triumph. This is likely one of the greatest challenges she has faced in her career as a golfer, but no challenge is too great for a Trojan. She has learned a lot and has grown tremendously through this experience, but she and many others feel the best has yet to come. It is incredible how talented these girls are, especially considering they are still in high school.
Ailis will return to Arizona for our end of year celebrations. Speaking of which, graduation is coming up on May 23rd. It's a celebration of the year of hard work our seniors have put in and it will be a great time. Please come and show up to support our students, and celebrate their incredible achievements. Valley has produced multiple remarkable athletes who have competed at a professional level. We look forward to seeing Ailis continue this legacy of excellence without compromise.
