Trojan Golf Faces Tough Competition Mid-Season

5/2/2024 10:05:00 AM

During the month of April, the Trojan golf team had 4 matches in a week and a half time span. This schedule has kept them busy as they have played very well in all these tough matches.

The first tournament that the golf team played in was the Champions Invitational at Tahquitz Creek Golf Resort in Palm Springs California. The Trojans knew this would be a tough match as this tournament included some of the top schools on the west coast. The top Trojan score came from junior Ollie Kingkade who shot 238 through 3 rounds. Kingkade was followed by another junior, Jaxon Brown, who shot 239 through 3 rounds. Even though the Trojans didn't place super high as a team, this was still a very prestigious tournament to be a part of which the players learned a lot from.

The next match for the Trojans was on April 11 at Legacy Golf Club, where they faced off against the Ben Franklin Chargers and the Thatcher Eagles. The Trojans were led once again by juniors Ollie Kingkade and Jaxon Brown. Brown shot a 37 which landed him in second place in the match and Kingkade finished right behind him in third place shooting a 39. With support from the other Trojan golfers, the team was able to pull out the win shooting a lower collective score than the other two schools.

On April 15th, the Trojans played home at Aguila Golf Course against Northwest Christian. Senior Carson Rowe ended up second overall shooting a 38, equaled by Jaxon Brown, who also shot a 38. With these two leading the Trojans in this match, they were able to pull away with yet another win.

The Trojans next match is on April 17 at Oro Valley Country Club against Pusch Ridge, make sure to catch them in action!
