The Valley Christian golf team has been having an incredible season, and their hard work is really paying off. With dedication, discipline, and renewed focus, the golf team has a great chance at securing another state title. A major change this year came with Coach Beau Tribolet stepping into the role of Head Coach after serving as the assistant for the past two years. Seniors
Ollie Kingkade and
Jaxon Brown shared how Coach Beau has improved the team this year. Jaxon commented, "Coach Beau is a good coach. He has made us all more disciplined; it's the best season we have ever had, and that is because of him." Ollie added, "he has gotten us dialed in for state more than ever and I am grateful for where we are at right now as a team and individually, it has been motivating me to do my best, and I'm really thankful for that."
Throughout the season, there have been several standout moments. Juniors
Bryan Tarr and
Brodi Bourdo both share that their favorite match this year was Aguila. Tarr shot 3 under and his family came out to support him. And Bourdo shared he played well, and the team won by a good margin. They both have had a great season and have seen consistent improvement all around their game, which will help them to continue to better their opponents. Kingkade shared one of their harder matches was against Thatcher. The match was very windy, with occasional gusts up to 40 mph, along with pouring rain and low temperatures. Despite the weather, the team pushed through, finished the match, and won the tournament, half of them placing in the top 10 individually.
Confidence has been a key theme all season. "We were always going to make it to state, we were always going to win," Jaxon says. "We have never lost a match, beating most opponents by an average of ten stokes."
Last year, Ailis Triolet led the team with a remarkable 12 under performance at the state match to secure the championship. Although she has stepped away from the Valley golf team this year to pursue golf on a more professional level, we can't wait to see how she does.
If the Valley golf team continues this outstanding performance, they have a great chance at winning state again this year.
Make sure to come out and support them in their journey to a back to back state title this Monday and Tuesday! Tournament information can be found here: https://azpreps365.com/championships/golf-spring
