Coming off fall break your Valley Christian Trojans were hard at work over the week off, preparing for a battle against the Odyssey Institute Minotaur's. Before break the Trojans traveled to Seton Catholic to face off against the Sentinels in a battle of Chandler schools. Valley Christian posted a winning score of 48-38 in an offensive shootout between the two schools. Junior quarterback, Austin Schuder, put up a game defining stat line consisting of 416 total yards, 3 passing TD's, 250 passing yards, 3 rushing TD's, as well as 166 rushing yards. Sophomore inside linebacker, Porter Cross, had an impressive 7 total tackles, making crucial stops in the Seton run game to contain them from outscoring the Trojans.
Looking forward to this Friday, the Valley Christian Trojans take on the Minotaur's in the homecoming game at Benson field at 7PM. The Trojans moved to 6-1 and are currently the third ranked team in 3A and the Minotaur's are now 4-3 with a ranking of #18. The Trojans look to put on an impressive and convincing game against the Minotaur's for their annual homecoming game. The game on Friday will be the first match up for the two schools, although this season they have common opponents in the Benjamin Franklin Chargers who posted a score of 62-0 against the Minotaur's. For Odyssey coming off a tough loss to #23 ranked Kingman, they are searching for a bounce back win. That will be a farfetched dream against the Trojans who are expected for a deep playoff run this year.
