The Trojans started off the week of January 13th strong with two away games, one against Tonopah Valley and the other against Gilbert Christian.

On Monday, January 13th, the girls dominated against Tonopah Valley with a score of 16-0. Nine girls on the team were able to score (Abigail Stipp ('25), Sydney Paschich ('26), Bella Macedo ('28), Brielle Hunsaker ('26), Baylee Horvath ('26), Raegan Randleman ('27), Maddie Lewis ('27), Tatum Mitchell ('27), and Angie Snape ('26)) and they moved the ball around the field well, showing good teamwork. Due to how well the girls were playing, the coaches were able to substitute players who did not normally see the field.

Later in the week, on January 15th, the Varsity Girls soccer team went up against cross-town rival, Gilbert Christian. They started out strong with the start of the game being 1-0.  Junior Sydney Paschich scored the first goal with a free kick after a Gilbert Christian foul. The game was going well for the Trojans until the Knights scored.

Valley Christian's defense was tough in the first half, and they had hope that they could still pull out the win. They were moving the ball well up the field to the offense and had many opportunities to score but fell short. It was 1-3 when halftime was called. The coaches gave the girls a pep talk that gave them the hope needed to have to have a good comeback.

The girls started out the second half strong and ready to play hard, but Gilbert Christian came out even harder.  Unfortunately, the Trojans were not able to compete with them and let too many things slide.

The final match score was 1-8 in favor of the Knights. Senior Libby Juist shared, "Our passing was really good, and we played to the best of our abilities, but sadly they outsmarted us." The girls still had a lot of fun and now get to take this as a learning experience and know what they need to focus on going forward in the season.

Even though they lost the girls have been working hard on new plays and new positions. They are excited to use those in the upcoming games and hoping they will make it to state. The chemistry and the teamwork on this team is extraordinary, as well as the leadership. Despite the loss that the girls faced they have high goals of a good comeback.

Come out to support your Trojans for the last couple of games!
