The Valley Christian Softball team played their first playoff game on Saturday, April 27th, against the Coolidge Bears. Here is the recap...

Senior Kat Hanson hit two home runs and drove in four as the Valley Christian Varsity Trojans defeated the Coolidge Bears 13-0 on Saturday. Hanson homered in the first and second inning. Kat states, "Knowing the past we have with this team, it gave me motivation to play to the best of my ability, and I think I accomplished that by hitting two nukes and a double."

The Valley Christian Varsity Trojans got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Hansom homered to left field, Coolidge committed and error, and senior Caymen Ferber doubled, each scoring one run. Caymen Ferber exclaims, "I wasn't nervous heading into this game because I knew the pitching and how to time her up. Our whole team proved how good of a team we were and on Saturday and that we are here to compete."

The team scored five runs on seven hits in the bottom of the second inning. Hanson homered to center field, scoring two runs, freshman Ryann Nelson singled, scoring one run, and Ferber singled, scoring two runs.

The Trojans extended their early lead with four runs in the bottom of the third thanks to RBI doubles by Hanson, freshman Leigha Kremlacek, and senior Bree Hanzal.

Freshman Makay Fraley earned the win for Valley Christian. They surrendered two hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out nine and walking two. #15 took the loss for Coolidge. The starting pitcher went four innings, giving up 13 runs (11 earned) on 14 hits, striking out none and walking two.

Valley Christian piled up 14 hits in the game. Hanzal, Ferber, Fraley, Kremlacek, and Nelson each collected multiple hits for the team. The girls were sure-handed and did not commit a single error. Freshman Amelia Bowman made the most plays with nine.
