This year our Trojan Esports team has really crushed their opponents. The Super Smash Bros team has done well this season. As of the writing of this article, they are 3 – 1, only losing to Desert Edge. "I think we are still figuring out the identity of our team", says Smash Bros. Coach Jon Hunsaker. "At the end of the day, we are going to be really strong this year."
The Esports Smash Bros team is competing well within their division and are looking forward to state. They had an early win against Pueblo High School with a score of 5 – 2, took a second victory against the NHS Epaches with a score of 6 – 0, and beat Cactus Valley with a score of 5 – 2. The only team they have lost to so far was Desert Edge where they ended the match with a score of 3 – 4. Even with that loss, the Smash Bros team is still looking promising and still have a chance to go all the way to the championship.
The Trojan Esports Rocket League team is currently sitting undefeated with a record of 4 – 0 and are ranked 2nd in the state (tied with three other teams at the moment). "Anything less than top two, we're not happy with", says Rocket League Coach Jayce Maxwell. This is a fantastic team who all have their eyes set on winning, especially with their new player joining the team, freshman Christopher Meier. The experience senior Ryan Bastic brings to the table helps move the team forward and junior Chase DBboer who's like the anchor of the team, keeps the team together and holds them in place. Every player on this team helps to make their vision of a championship win come true.
For the next few weeks, the Smash Bros. team will be competing against higher ranked schools and the Rocket League team will be battling it out towards the finals.
