Trojan E-Sports' February Recap

3/17/2026 8:56:00 AM

Valley Christian High School has had a lot going on recently, and between Trojan Tournament, Engage meetings, and preparation for end of quarter tests, the schedule has been packed. That doesn't mean that our E-Sports teams have been slacking, though; Rocket League and Rivals are going strong with a perfect record this season, and Super Smash Bros is finally picking up steam.

Starting off with Rocket League, in just the short month of February they destroyed Metro Tech High School, Highland High School, Willow Canyon High School, and Basha High School. Even more impressive is the fact that they managed to shut out every single team 3-0. Continuing to dominate is something that our Rocket League team handles with ease, and it seems that Coach Jon Hunsaker will be coming home with another Championship Ring this spring.

Smash Bros has just started to lock in on their matches. Following an unexpected loss to Coconino High School with a score of 1-3 to begin the month, the team rallied to win the next two games against Chinle High School and Sierra Linda High School 3-0, and then clinched the last match of the month against Saint Mary's Catholic High School 3-2. Varsity Captain Mecca Brisbon ('26) expressed that the reason the team has made such a comeback is because they have "great adaptability and the ability to absorb information quickly." It's exciting to see Super Smash Bros finally break their losing streak and bring some heat to this frigid February.

Last, but certainly not least, is our brand-new Marvel Rivals team. The first match of the month they faced off against Willow Canyon High School and won 3-1, and with this early morale boost they crushed Crimson High School, Betty Fairfax High School, and McClintock High School all 3-0. Derek Harp ('26) commented on his teammates', indicating he was impressed with "seeing their growth as a team and as people into God fearing men through Rivals. For being our newest E-Sports team, their performance has been shockingly good so far."

February was a short month, but E-Sports locked in and secured wins consistently despite the season just beginning. As March approaches, we can only hope that these three teams pull off just as stunning of a show as have so far.
