Look out soccer fans, the 24-25 girls soccer season is underway! Last year the girls finished an impressive season with a record of 12-11, and every game they played was intense.
The team last year's had a terrific start to the season as they defeated their opponent, Bourgade Catholic, 8-0. With the momentum from their first game it led to a streak of 5 more wins after that. The current 24-25 team is hoping to start off this season with the same amount of intensity and passion.
Although they lost in their first round of playoffs during their 2023-2024 season, the #14 Trojans were happy with the outcome of the game, as they lost to #3 Northwest Christian 7-0 during the regular season and held them to 1-1 before overtime during the playoffs. The Trojans were nervous going into that playoff game, and having to play a team that had already beaten them earlier in the season didn't make it any better. However, they went out there and gave it their all and showed Northwest what they were really made of. Because of that amazing game at the end of last season, the Trojans were excited to see what the following season would bring during the 2024-2025 season.
The Trojans have graduated six seniors, which means there are multiple spots needing to be filled. This year's team has five returning seniors stepping into those leadership roles, with the addition of two first-year students wanting to make their mark as well. This year's team captains are
Abigail Stipp (12),
Layla Heller (12), and
Sydney Paschich (11), who are ready to guide the team in the right direction. Leading the charge is Head Coach Skyler Kuzmich, VC Class of 2012 alum. This is coach Skyler's 5
th year coaching at Valley, as well as her 2
nd year as the Head Coach of girls soccer.
With high hopes for a spectacular season, the Trojan girls are ready to face off against their first opponent Florence. Be sure to clear your schedule and come support your Trojan girls soccer team!
