Trojan volleyball hits the road for a double header

10/4/2024 9:14:00 AM

Trojan Volleyball traveled up north to Monument Valley on Saturday, September 14th for a double header against Monument Valley and Window Rock, held at Monument Valley High School. Because both schools are about five hours away, all programs thought it would be best to schedule two games in one day, instead of making the trip twice.

The Trojans started the day by facing off against Monument Valley High School. Valley came out victorious in four sets with the scores being 25-15, 24-26, 25-19, and 25-17.  The girls then played Window Rock and won in three with all sets ending in a score of 25-8.

The Trojan volleyball team had many players that performed exceptionally well on Saturday. Sophomore Sadie Wahlin had an astonishing 14 kills against Monument Valley and 12 kills against Window Rock. Junior Eliana Gregg had 18 digs against Monument Valley. Sophomore Sydney Simon had 5 blocks against Monument Valley. Senior Jasmine Garcia had 6 digs against Window Rock. Sophomore Ansley Venkatesh had an extraordinary 5 aces on Window Rock. These young ladies played after such a long drive up to Monument Valley.

Senior Taylor Miser explained "we changed up the line up each set of the Window Rock game but we remained consistent. Coach Tyler was proud of us for keeping up the intensity". The Valley Christian Trojans were able give every varsity player time on the court against both Monument Valley and Window Rock, so it was a great team experience.

After these wins, the Valley Christian varsity volleyball team continued their undefeated season with a record of 5-0.

The Trojans will continue the regular season away against Thatcher on Thursday, September 19th and then will play in their newly renovated gym at home in a game against Globe on Tuesday, September 24th.
