The Valley Christian Mountain Bike Club kicked off their second season this past weekend at White Tanks Regional Park in Waddell, Arizona. They have been hard at work the past couple of months gearing up for the season. They are excited to see where the second season takes them.
Coming into the 2024 season the team grew, adding a new coach and two new riders. The racers this year are seniors Liam Clark and Jed Arneson, juniors Emma Clark and Harper Peacock and freshmen John Forte and Kate Schumann. The team is coached by Jennifer Clark, Robert Clark, Aaron Mehner and Suzanne Forte. Freshman John Forte shared that he is, "excited to have fellowship over the sport of mountain biking."
The team is made up of a diverse group of riders, with some having years of experience and others who have just started the sport, but they are all eager to kick off the new season with a bang and bond over a sport they all love. Junior Emma Clark expressed, "I am excited for the upcoming season especially since the team has grown this past season." Emma, being last year's Varsity State Champion, is ready to take the course and defend her title.
Their season started this past Saturday, January 20th and goes on until March 16th. In the first race at White Tanks Regional Park, the Trojans came away with some riders finishing on the podium. In their respective varsity races, Emma Clark finished with the women's win, while Liam Clark placed second in the men's race. In a big varsity field for both men's and women's, the Trojans held their own and brought home a pair of medals to start off the season strong.
The Clarks will be joined by Schumann and Arneson in the next race at Peralta Regional Park on Saturday, February 3rd, 2024.
