Our first ever Mountain Biking Club season is taking place this year! This new program was started and is coached by Robert and Jennifer Clark and is an exciting addition to our school's athletic offerings. According to varsity rider Liam Clark, their family wanted to start a mountain biking team when he was a freshman in high school at Corona Del Sol but ended up transferring to Valley Christian his sophomore year. They started to get the club up and running at Valley this year with the support of the team's staff sponsor, Mrs. Mehner. Liam stated, "I'm super excited to be racing for my school and racing my first year on Varsity. Mountain Biking at Valley is super exciting to me since I've never been able to race for my school before."
The racers this year are junior Liam Clark, sophomore Emma Clark, sophomore Harper Peacock, and junior Jedyn Arneson. While this is a small group, it is full of experience. Before the Mountain Biking Club started at Valley, Liam and Emma Clark raced for Dynamic Devo. Liam is a 7-time state champion and took 2nd at the Enduro Southwest Regional Championships. Emma won the 2nd place medal at MTB Nationals and has 11 state championships across multiple fields of cycling.
The season runs from early February to mid-April and students can be found mountain biking at various state parks around Arizona. Our Trojan mountain bikers already had their first race of the season on February 11th. Emma medaled 1st in girls varsity, Liam medaled 2nd in boys varsity, Jed placed 34th and Harper placed 40th in JV2.
The season has just begun and you can still catch our Trojan mountain bikers racing on February 25th, April 1st, and April 22nd.
Be sure to cheer them on throughout this first ever Mountain Biking season at Valley Christian!
Go Trojans!!
