The Valley Christian softball team has found success yet again this week, tallying three more wins. The team is excited to continue their success as they are currently ranked 4th in the state for 3A and are 7-0 on the season. On Monday, March 27th, the Trojans faced the Florence Gophers at home. With only a 3-0 lead, the Trojans caught a spark once again from senior Victoria Clark with a two-run homerun. The Trojans were led at the plate by sophomore Libby Juist, who went 3-3, and junior Caymen Ferber, who also went 3-3 at the plate with two triples. The game was called after the 5th inning after junior Kat Hanson hit a base-clearing triple to put the Trojans up 11-0. While the girls were killing it at the plate, Bree Hanzal also had her first no hitter of the season.
Then on Wednesday, March 29th, the Trojans took the trip to Tucson to play the Pusch Ridge Lions. The Trojans started off with a solid lead against the Lions, finding success at the plate from the entire lineup. Bree Hanzal started off strong at the plate and then handed it over to Kat Hanson after a couple innings. Bree Hanzal made another appearance at the mound later in the game to finish it off. The team struggled with some errors all around the field and allowed the Lions to score nine runs; however, the Trojans still came out on top with a score of 21-9.
The Valley Trojans refocused and secured another big victory against ALA Anthem South on Thursday, March 30th, 21-0. The Trojans were led on the mound once again by Bree Hanzal with no hits, no runs, and six strikeouts in two innings. Bree also hit her 4th homerun of the season.
