Trojans Come Up Short Against Tough Opponents

1/30/2023 2:18:00 PM

The Valley Christian girls soccer team has had some competitive games this year, three of which fell in one week.

The Trojans started the week battling against Gilbert Classical on Monday, January 23rd. The girls came into this game excited and pumped after their win against Chandler Prep on January 20th. Gilbert Classical was overall speculated to be a stronger team. This didn't stop Valley Christians Girls Soccer team from putting up a good fight.

In the beginning of the game, it was evenly matched between both teams. In the second half senior Kylie Brown scored the first goal of the game and Valley took the lead for most of the match. Unfortunately, during the last 10 minutes of the second half, Gilbert Classical rallied to score two goals. This put the Spartans up 2-1 over the Trojans. Freshman Sydney Pascich said "they were projected to be a better team, but that didn't stop us from giving it our all in this game."

The Trojans went on to take on Horizon Honors on Wednesday, January 25th. This was an underwhelming performance by the Trojans and the team fell 0-4 to the Eagles.

The Trojans wrapped up the week against a tough opponent when they took on Northwest Christian at home. The Crusaders came out strong from the start and held the lead throughout, finishing with a 5-1 victory over the Trojans.

The upcoming game against Rancho Solano Prep is crucial in state rankings and playoff seeding, so the Trojans are focused on putting an end to this 3-game losing streak.
