For the second year in a row, the Valley Christian Trojan Girls Volleyball team made it to state finals for 3A. Going into state, the Trojans were seeded third, with only two season losses to Northwest Christian High School. To get to finals, the Trojans beat Snowflake, who was seeded second, in three sets. Snowflake had really strong outside hitters, but the Trojans were able to shut them down with great defense. The set scores were all close, at 25-23, 26-24, and 25-22, but the Trojans prevailed, securing their spot in the finals against Northwest.
This would be the second year in a row that the Trojans would face Northwest in the finals. Last year, the Trojans lost to Northwest in three sets, so the Trojans went out looking to redeem their loss from last year. However, even with this mindset, the Trojans lost to Northwest again in three sets. With seven seniors on Valley Christian's team, they went out with a fight. The scores were 17-25, 19-25, and 19-25. Valley Christian played a great game, but in the end, Northwest Christian played a better game. Both teams are losing many seniors, so this will be an interesting matchup next season. Although Valley Christian lost this year, they still had a great season, earning state runner-up, and hopefully next year, state champs.
