Trojan Boys Basketball: Back on Track

12/18/2025 10:27:00 AM

After a hard-fought loss to the Campo Verde Coyotes, with a loss by a mere 4 points in total, the Trojans carried a 3-2 record going into their game against Apache junction. The boys were looking for the positive switch in their season they were in search of.
After multiple days of practice and thoughtful game planning, the Trojans had found their tempo. With home court advantage, they managed to outscore Apache Junction 106-25.

Senior Center, Devin Morganfield, states "as a team we competed all night long and played hard leading to our victory."

With that confidence they looked forward to facing off against a playoff caliber team in Yuma Catholic. After a solid start to the game, at 8-0 the game took a turn with a fast pace. Guard from Yuma returned the favor by scoring multiple unanswered three pointers. After which the Trojans defensively shifted, in efforts of shutting him down moving forward in the game.

Colby Jessup (Sr.) then capitalized on this by going on to score an outstanding 45 points throughout the remainder of the game. With his performance it excelled the Trojans to move past the Shamrocks 79-70.

As a Senior captain, Jessup states, "The past win has been a great opportunity for learning. We have a young team compared to the past and that comes with some growing pains. Overall beating Yuma is a good win, and it will push us to get better as we focus on winning games more comfortably."

Going into next week the Trojans have a 9 day stretch to prepare for one of their toughest tests all year long in Chaparral. Jessup states, "Chaparral is going to be a great test for us as they have several D1 players. We will be heavy underdogs but have the chance to beat them. I am looking forward to seeing how we match up against their really good guards and going out there and competing with my guys."

On December 18, make sure to come and support our Trojans at Bradley Gym. You'll be sure to witness a great game.
