Micah Newkirk (Sr.) has been on a hot streak for his senior year. He has been incredibly consistent running in the top five, besides one exception during the Desert Twilight, placing 38
th, even then he ran 15:27.8. Currently uncommitted, he has made
great strides in accolades in Arizona.
Being named top ten multiple times has gained him praise and respect from his running competitors. His
times, like his placements is just the more impressive. His most recent run, a successful 15:51.2 most
definitely shows his rigorous training paying off. That same race, he impressively overtook the bike, leading everyone to the finish.
As a senior it
is expected that he leads the Valley Christian Trojans and brings up the next wave of honorable runners. He has managed this feat by becoming an example in training, being an inspiration for runners to the likes of
Noah Klein and Skyler
White. Pushing them to move at their best and progress forward in their own advances.
As a Christian, he also stands up for what he believes in. Like his training, he
doesn't back down or step away from a challenge that might hinder his relationship with Jesus. He leads discipleship groups for the guy runners committing himself to his
faith. Another faithful example in his expedition to be a shining example.
In closing,
Micah Newkirk is a strong successful runner with a drive and a passion for his teammates and God. We look forward to seeing how he will proceed in his cross-country career.
