The Trojans are rolling through the season with no signs of stopping. The boys varsity team had their first home game on December 14
th against Regis Jesuit who came all the way from Colorado. Regis did not come all the way from Colorado to pick up a loss and came out determined to take down the nearly undefeated Trojans. The Trojans fought hard and ended up coming out with a hard-fought, 74-69, win. Senior
Kyle Grier had a smooth 25 points leading the way for the Trojans.
The Trojans looked to continue their win streak and looked to take down another Colorado opponent in Fossil Ridge. Fossil came out strong in the first quarter but the Trojans matched their energy in an instant. It was a battle all throughout the game, but unfortunately the Trojans came up short and lost on a last second buzzer beater in the fourth quarter, 63-62. Senior
Carson Grier had this to say about the game, "It was a tough way to lose on a buzzer beater and was a good game for us to go back and watch on film and see what we need to be better at." Carson had 22 points and played a great game for the Trojans.
After the small break for the holidays, the Trojans looked to push forward to their second tournament of the season and were excited to play against some tougher teams in the Nike Tournament of Champions. The Trojans looked to bounce back from their tough loss against Fossil Ridge and hoped to come out with a win against Canyon High School from Los Angeles. The Trojans unfortunately came up short and lost 85-87 in overtime. The team was led by junior
Colby Jessup with a jaw dropping 37 points. The boys did not let the loss affect their aggressiveness and went 2-0 in the rest of the tournament, beating Apollo High School (55-49) and Tucson High Magnet School (62-53).
The Trojans look to dominate the rest of the season and show no signs of slowing down. The Trojans boys want to be the best team in 3A and still look to pursue their 4
th state championship in a row.
