Porter Cross ('28) was also off to a strong start with a 13-4 record before getting injured. Senior
Jake Rockafellow has been injured for the first part of the season but is looking forward to returning to action in the San Tan tournament.
The girls team has been off to a good start as well There are two returning girl wrestlers, juniors Bella and
Hannah Goldman. Bella Goldman has a record of 9-4 so far this season. Both girls were just shy of making it to state last season and plan on improving on last season's overall success by classifying for the state wrestling tournament this season. When Bella was asked what she was looking forward to during the second half of the season, she said, "I am looking forward to wrestling in sectionals and in state this year." The two girls are looking to add onto the legacy that state champion
Andie Donahue (Class of 2024) left in the Trojan girls wrestling program.
Coach Olinger said, "The girls wrestling team is working hard and I know they can both make state." Coach Jay is also really excited about this year's squad and the potential for the individuals to go far in the state tournament. The team has been working well together and is gearing up for the state tournament. Sectionals start on February 15 and the state tournament is the following weekend.
